A return to the innovative days of information via internet

2025 February 23 Sunday 11:15:00

Earlier in the internet development days, more experimentation was evident. This was reminded recently by a recall of a sadly defunct service 'KartOO', prompted by mention of a similar service 'connected papers'. Whilst 'connected papers' is designed for academic use, there is an unsurprising reliance upon amgaf infrastructure and the ubiquitous freemium subscription business plan.

In contrast, found by a 'ddg' search query, encountered this query graph result search engine. Yes it is basic, but keeps the 'kartoo' concept alive. Annoyingly, an attempt to create the original search query which found the tool, was unsuccessful. Modern web usage is so cumbersome with 'noscript', 'ghostery' and anonymous proxy servers! :(

Arrival of the big whale

Yet another blue icon. No sooner than a recent post about those amgaf ai tools, another comes. It was an amusement to see the source of usa stock market "correction" for various stocks. It is interesting that since open source software is used, various iterations have appeared, advantageously without the inevitable need to "sign up" and submit personal data. Search for alternatives yield names such as 'instantseek', 'freedeepseek', etc.. A test with a request for balanced chemical equations was not as accurate, but adequate. This concept of using artificial intelligence to complete computer software code (in this case, LaTeX), has become known as 'prompt engineering'. We learn something new! :)
