Every now again, fail to activate the &opos;firefox' extension 'imageblock': the amount of gratuitous imagery, bloated content of the modern web browser experience, is not enjoyable. On the mobile phone, the use of firefox was finally ended; had enough of this constant upgrade mentality (no), the latest incarnation of which causes extensions to be disabled. Sorry, no longer interested. So, two alternatives are now used: 'lightning' (because images and ecmascript may be disabled) and 'opera mini' (for those instances when aforementioned options need to be active).
Have tried 'matrix' via web browser, without full success. Able to send text messages, but not multimedia communications. Similarly with 'jitsi', cannot make any multimedia communications via a web browser. Sorry, do not want to install some 50, 60, 100 MB program "app"
Since previous post (sorry cannot remember when or be motivated to search) about the irrelevance of chemistry to the London economy, the situation is worsened by others "stealing chemistry's clothes'. Not content with the accountants that seek to control the carbon management market, a new qualification implies that sustainability is beyond the scope of the foundational (central) science. The new 'Level 3 certificate in sustainability' from ocr is another example of the increasing "cherry-picking" of chemistry content, for other subjects of less cognitive demand. In a post-industrial society, the future of chemistry per se seems dead.
